Doris Parmett is an award-winning, national best-selling American author. Her work includes contemporary and romance novels, mysteries, short stories, magazine articles, and poetry.
Her short story Audition of a Lifetime (2016) appeared in Romantic Times Vegas Volume One. The Next Chapter, a feel-good Christmas short story, will publish in 2018.
She recently completed No Guarantees, Never Wake up in a Morgue, Journey to Forever and Game Over. She is currently working on Game On. Journey to Forever is a science fiction contemporary novel. Game Over and Game On are part of a mystery series.
As a reading specialist she served on the Somerset County Executive Board of the International Reading Association. In that capacity, she was instrumental in bringing the Young Author’s Program to this state. To encourage students she wrote Litterocious Lou the Lopsided Dragon, plus the Marbella series.
In addition she has lectured at various colleges. She began her teaching career in Los Angeles, where her students were the first to have their writing displayed at the Los Angeles Airport. Honored by the New Jersey State Department of Education, Doris is grateful for all the talented and wonderful people she continues to meet in her dual careers.
She holds a Masters Degree in Science from the University of Southern California.
Awards include: Holt Medallion, New Jersey Writers Conference, Romantic Times Reviewer’s Choice, and nominee of LIES for Book of the Year.
Born in New York, she’s lived in 10 states, thanks to her physician father setting up army hospitals during the war and a husband whose career included moves from New York to California, Texas, back to California and finally to New Jersey.
Doris credits her love of reading to becoming a writer and an educator. “Trouble always seems to find my characters. I must admit they often keep me up at night, but finally knocking some sense into their heads is a lot of fun.”
